    Designed for athletes and participants ages 3 and up, our Adaptive and Challenger programs meet each individual where they are. From a fully accessible sports complex to one on one support from volunteer buddies, families can expect a safe, welcoming experience that celebrates progress and joy.     Challenger Sports Programs

    Adaptive team sports help athletes of all abilities stay active, learn fundamentals, build confidence, and experience teamwork in a supportive environment with coaches and volunteer buddies. AGES: 6+

    Challenger Soccer Programs

    YMCA Challenger Soccer offers an inclusive soccer experience with teams organized by age and ability, supported by volunteers so every athlete can participate, learn skills, and have fun. AGES: 6+

    Young Adult Social Events

    Inclusive outings help teens and young adults connect with peers through food, activities, and Kansas City attractions, building friendships and community in a welcoming setting. AGES: 13+

    Adaptive Swim Lessons

    Modified swim instruction supports children and young adults with special needs as they learn water safety and swimming skills, using small ratios for individualized attention. AGES: 3+

    Autism Society Swim Lessons

    In partnership with the Autism Society of The Heartland, this swim and safety program helps reduce drowning risk and builds water confidence for children on the autism spectrum.

    Volunteer Challenger Buddy Program

    Volunteer buddies are paired with athletes to encourage participation, provide assistance as needed, and offer friendship during practices and games while families cheer from the sidelines.
