The Riverside Community Center is owned and operated by the City of Riverside, and the YMCA of Greater Kansas City runs fitness programming inside it. That partnership means Y members can take group exercise classes and play pickleball here at no extra cost, in a building just a few minutes from home. The center also has a gymnasium and an outdoor aquatic center open in the summer.
YMCA classes at the center include Barre, Cardio, Line Dancing, Strength, Tai Chi, Yoga, Zumba and Pickleball, and they are available to Y members at no additional charge. Class times shift with the season, so check the center’s current group exercise schedule before you head over. Open gym and pickleball run on a set weekly rotation, and the gymnasium can also be rented by the hour for basketball, volleyball and pickleball practices.
Riverside residents can join the Y for a fraction of the usual cost through the City’s Healthy Citizens Initiative: you pay 25% of the membership fee and the City of Riverside covers the remaining 75%. Bring a driver’s license and a current utility bill to a participating YMCA to sign up, and your membership works at YMCA of Greater Kansas City locations, not just this one. Questions about the Y’s programming here can go to Riverside@KansasCityYMCA.org.

FAQ YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
The building is owned and operated by the City of Riverside. The YMCA of Greater Kansas City is a programming partner here, providing group exercise classes, pickleball and open gym for Y members. If you have a question about the facility itself, such as hours, rentals or the pool, the City is the right contact; if it is about a Y class or membership, reach out to us.
Y members can take Barre, Cardio, Line Dancing, Strength, Tai Chi, Yoga and Zumba here, plus pickleball and open gym. Classes are included with your membership at no extra charge. The schedule changes seasonally, so check the center’s current group exercise schedule for the times that are running now.
Yes. Through the City’s Healthy Citizens Initiative, Riverside residents pay 25% of the YMCA membership fee and the City covers the other 75%. Yes. The City’s outdoor aquatic center is on site, with a zero-depth entry, a diving board, a splashground and lounging areas in both sun and shade. It runs on a summer season rather than year-round, and admission and season passes are handled by the City of Riverside.
Yes. The gymnasium is available to rent by the hour for basketball, volleyball and pickleball practices, and YMCA members get a reduced rate. Availability varies through the week, including Saturdays, so call the community center to check open times and book.
