Flag Football
ABOUT YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL SKILLS. TEAMWORK. CHIEFS PRIDE.
In Youth Flag Football, the focus is on teamwork in a positive and structured environment. Children learn how to throw, catch, run routes and other aspects of the game that will keep them active and develop skills such as hand-eye coordination. In addition, children will have an opportunity to develop leadership skills and build self-esteem as they learn.
The Y’s youth flag football programs are sponsored by the Kansas City Chiefs. Flag football participants receive exclusive Chiefs jerseys and medals, as well as access to Chiefs football camps, special events for families, and appearances by KC Wolf and the Chiefs Cheerleaders.
- AGES: 5+ through 12th Grade
- DAYS: 1 practice per week, 1 game per week.

YMCAKC x OttawaU Female Flag Nationals: June 6, 2026
- LOCATION: Ottawa University 1001 S Cedar St Ottawa KS 66067
- ELIGIBILITY: Girls 14U as of August 1 2025 and HS girls currently in High School during 2025 26 school year
- FEES: Fees vary based on program.
- AWARDS: Championship rings for winning team MVP scholarship opportunity to Ottawa University
- REGISTRATION DEADLINE: May 25
Johnson County Flag Football Clinic: March 8, 2026
- LOCATION: Trailridge Middle School
- AGES: Age at least 7 yrs but less than 19 yrs
- FEES: Fees vary based on program.
- FORMAT: Skill instruction plus controlled scrimmage
- REGISTRATION DEADLINE: March 2
Northland Flag Football Clinic: March 15, 2026

- AGES: Age at least 7 yrs but less than 19 yrs

Tournament Divisions
Tournaments include the following divisions. For upcoming tournaments, age is as of August 1, 2025. High school division players must have attended high school for 2025-2026 school year. 10u boys, 12u boys, 14u boys, 10u girls, 12u girls, 14u girls*, High school* *For YMCAKC x OttawaU Female Flag Nationals only.
Registration Fees
The early registration rate is $350 per team. The standard rate is $400.
Age Verification & Tournament Rules
All players must be age-verified through Zorts by purchasing a Zorts players card or through a national sports ID. Tournament rules are three pool play games, and then the top 50% of teams move to a single elimination bracket.
